Job Description

We are seeking dedicated and compassionate individuals to join our team as Support Workers. As a Support Worker, you will provide essential support and assistance to customers who require care in their own homes and other settings such as Care Homes.

Your primary responsibility will be to promote their well-being and ensure they can maintain their independence and quality of life. This role requires empathy, excellent communication skills, and the ability to adapt to various needs and situations. You will be working on your own or with a co-worker. Applicants should possess strong written and verbal communication skills as this role may involve contacting Emergency Services or healthcare professionals to promptly assist customers in urgent situations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Personal Care: Assisting clients with personal hygiene tasks such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
  • Medication Management: Administering medications as prescribed and maintaining accurate records.
  • Mobility Support: Assisting clients with mobility and transferring, using aids if necessary, and ensuring their safety.
  • Meal Preparation: Preparing nutritious meals according to clients’ dietary requirements and preferences.
  • Household Assistance: Supporting clients with light housekeeping tasks, including cleaning, laundry, and shopping.
  • Companionship: Providing emotional support, engaging in conversation, and participating in activities to enhance clients’ well-being.
  • Documentation: Maintaining detailed and accurate records of care provided, observations, and any changes in clients’ conditions.
  • Communication: Regularly liaising with clients’ families, healthcare professionals, and the care team to ensure coordinated and effective care.
  • Promoting Independence: Encouraging clients to participate in decision-making, promoting their autonomy, and enabling them to live as independently as possible.
  • Safety and Risk Management: Identifying potential hazards or risks in the home environment and taking appropriate measures to ensure a safe living space.

Skills & Experience:

Essential:

  • Level 2 Literacy, Numeracy, and I.T. skills and a willingness to develop further with appropriate support.
  • Undertaking and completing relevant health and safety training and modules, as well as demonstrating knowledge and understanding of our company policies and procedures.
  • Skills to follow and carry out a risk assessment as and when a situation may require it in order to safeguard staff and customers.
  • Understanding and respecting the rights of customers and carers while showing empathy towards individual needs
  • Following essential safeguarding rules relating to children, young people, and adults.
  • Applicants must possess a valid full UK driving licence and have access to a vehicle for commuting to and from work locations. Fuel costs will be reimbursed.

Desired:

  • Residential or other care work experience with children, young people or adults with learning disabilities or special educational needs. Some experience in a caring or supportive role – not necessarily in paid employment.
  • Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or Caring for Vulnerable Adults.
  • Other relevant training, e.g., Safeguarding, food hygiene, behaviour management etc.

Working Hours:

We are offering flexible positions ranging from a minimum of 16 hours per week up to 37.5 hours. As our services are provided round-the-clock, our staff must be available to work varying shifts, including nights and weekends, based on our business requirements. This flexibility ensures that we can deliver uninterrupted support to our clients whenever and wherever it is needed.
